ant to be part of the LCATS Swim Team? Join us at our next team tryout session. With an emphasis on proper stroke technique, swimmers age 4-16 will learn how to execute dives, turns, and overall improved swim performance. Tryout participants who express interest and the aptitude required will be invited to join the LCATS Swim Team.
Each day will begin in the classroom with a safety video, then to the pool for hands on instruction. Tryouts are for those swimmers who can already swim 25 yards down the pool, even if their technique is not great. We will work on proper technique as part of the team. Watch for dates of our next team tryouts.
Coaches will evaluate each swimmer and rate them on the American Red Cross ability level to determine if they are ready for the additional training and competition of a swim team. And yes, sometimes young ones go through more than one tryout session before they master the skills needed to be ready for the team.
Tryouts consist of 30-35 hours in the water of the course of two to three weekends. Swimmers will need goggles, a towel and girls should wear a one piece swimsuit.
