Water Babies is the first of the safety programs that are offered as part of the American Red Cross Water Education Series. The program is designed for children ages 6 months to 3 years. A parent must be in the water with their child during each lesson.
Techniques used help develop motor skills, acclimate the child to the water and teach them how to position themselves so that they are able to breathe in the event of an unexpected fall into the water. The time in the water helps to build confidence, and helps the child to understand that the water can be fun and safe. Our core emphasis is water safety. Parents are taught how to prevent and manage aquatic emergencies including CPR for infants and children.
The cost for this class is $75.00 for four 20 minute parent/child sessions in the water, plus an additional adult only lesson on infant CPR.
Each child must wear two swim diapers. Parents must shower before entering the pool. Parents should also bring goggles. Because we only use American Red Cross Certified instructors that have experience with this age group, we require a group of at least 5 child/parent combos to cover the cost of the instructor. If you are interested in signing up for a Water Babies class, fill out the information form on the home page and we will contact you with dates and times for our next scheduled class.
